POSITION PURPOSE

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses at British University Vietnam (BUV) prepare students for success in their degree studies through the development of academic language, and research and study skills.

The Faculty in English for Academic Purpose will be responsible for delivering pre-sessional and in-sessional EAP courses, ensuring high-quality teaching, successful learning outcomes, and outstanding student experience. This position provides an exciting opportunity to use both professional expertise and creativity to deliver innovative courses that support student success. The postholder will ensure an inclusive, integrated approach to English language and academic skills provision through strong pedagogical methodologies and delivery methods.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of EAP Programmes to pre-university, university and postgraduate students.
  • Ensure excellence in all aspects of teaching and assessment of students in the EAP courses, duly responding to student evaluation and feedback to provide continuous improvement of the courses.
  • Develop, build, and maintain strong working relationships with key University stakeholders including academic departments, other Professional Services, Students Recruitment and Admissions teams.
  • Contribute to developing high-quality materials for EAP Programmes.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Essential

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Applied Linguistics/TESOL related field and/or a DELTA and extensive experience in teaching EAP.
  • Experience in contributing to the design, development, and implementation of new programmes.
  • Strong teaching skills.
  • Creativity and pro-activity, the ability to work in a team and adapt to an expanding working environment.

Desirable

  • Able to demonstrate innovative engagement in Technology Enhanced Language Learning
